Breakout: Just Sayin’! The Art & Skills in Active Listening
Luis A. Hernandez, Early Childhood Education Specialist, holds an M.A. in Bilingual/Multicultural education from the University of San Francisco. Luis brings solid expertise based on his work history in Head Start, child care, Pre-K programs, college and universities, and professional development design and administration.
Mr. Hernandez work focuses on a wide range of early childhood education and professional development topics. His expertise includes early literacy, dual language learning, adult learning practices, family engagement, and ECE management and leadership topics. As a regular presenter and keynote speaker at national, state, and local conferences, Luis is highly regarded for his motivational and energizing presentations.

The 2025 Pathways to Quality Conference and Resource Fair is a week-long, hybrid event that offers attendees access to live, virtual sessions Nov. 10-13 and an in-person experience on Saturday, Nov. 15 at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee. Access to on-demand, recorded sessions begins Nov. 17.
HYATT REGENCY MILWAUKEE
Our in-person experience is located at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, 333 W Kilbourn Ave, Milwaukee, WI 53203 (connected to the Wisconsin Center). Registration, which begins at 7:30am, is located outside the Regency Ballroom, on the second floor of the Hyatt.
PARKING
Parking will be validated for all registered conference attendees who self-park in the Hyatt Regency parking garage. When entering the Hyatt parking garage, please pull a parking ticket. If an attendant is present, please inform them you are an attending a conference at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee. Once parked, please proceed to the ground level and exit the parking garage to access the hotel’s main entrance. Alternatively, proceed to the 3rd Level of the parking garage to enter the hotel via skywalk. QR codes will be given at the conference to allow participants to leave the garage without payment.
WHOVA APP
For the most up-to-date information and to ensure you receive important updates, download and use our conference smartphone app, Whova! This mobile app offers you a quick and easy way to view the conference agenda, plan your schedule, access recordings, and more! Video recordings of the virtual sessions will be available in Whova starting Nov. 17 and will be available until Feb. 14, 2026.
EXHIBIT HALL
Exhibitors and vendors are located in the Atrium on the 2nd floor. This space is filled with resources and information. Be sure to take time to explore the variety of support and materials available.
COURAGE TO EXPLORE
WECA’s Courage to Explore interactive experience is located in the Milwaukee Room. The exhibit is a safe space designed for gathering ideas to incorporate principles that allow all children and families to encounter welcoming spaces in programs and classrooms. The room is designed with elaborate displays, including books, toys, musical instruments, and extensive resources for adults.
GENERAL CONSENT AND RELEASE FOR USE OF IMAGE
Pathways Committee members will take photographs and videos throughout the conference day. Registration and participation at the Pathways Conference constitutes an agreement for media to be used in connection with conference-related materials.
WISCONSIN REGISTRY CREDIT
Each participant will receive a general certificate of attendance in their conference folder. If you would like Wisconsin Registry Credit, you must check in to EACH session you attend, including the keynote, using the QR code check-in process posted in the workshop rooms.
CONFERENCE EVALUATIONS
All workshop and conference evaluations are in the Whova app. Please complete one for each session you attend and the overall conference evaluation. This important feedback guides future planning of the Pathways to Quality Conference and Resource Fair.
