The Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards provide a common language and guidance for families, professionals, and policymakers around early childhood education and care. They articulate Wisconsin’s Guiding Principles, inform the application of the standards, and Wisconsin’s commitment to young children and families. They also specify developmental expectations for children from birth through the entrance to first grade. Developmental domains reflect attention to all the domains of a child’s learning and development. Each domain is divided into sub-domains which include developmental expectations, performance standards, and program standards. A developmental continuum, with samples of children’s behavior and samples of adult strategies, are also included. This training is offered over 8 virtual, live sessions. Most of the sessions are 2.5 hours. There is also .5 hrs of homework to complete outside of the virtual class time. It is strongly encouraged that participants who enroll in this course have access to reliable internet and a laptop or computer.

Review key elements of the physical, social, and temporal environments that best support young children. Participants will evaluate their physical environment and conduct an audit on 2 current learning centers of their choice. Participants will examine the connection between learning environments and behavior and proactively plan modifications to their classroom management techniques and physical environment to refresh learning centers, increase child engagement, and reduce challenging behaviors. **To get the most out of this training, we highly recommend you come with images or a diagram of your environment.**

This group learning experience is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to effectively support children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in early childhood settings. Through a combination of evidence-based strategies and practical tools, participants will gain valuable insights into addressing the unique communication, sensory, and behavioral needs of children on the autism spectrum. Additionally, participants will learn how to use a step-by-step collaboration plan to effectively communicate with a child’s care team. By the end of the course, participants will confidently create inclusive environments where children with autism can thrive.

Families play a pivotal role in early childhood and their involvement, strong connections, and interactions all support children’s growth and development. PEER is a dynamic family engagement approach designed to get families excited about what’s happening in your program. This approach inspires meaningful connections at home with ideas for positive interactions. In this session, you’ll be introduced to the PEER interaction framework and discover practical ways to incorporate it into everyday experiences while supporting families to do the same at home. This tool is used with infants – 5 year olds.

Each session stands on its own, and directors are welcome to attend one or many. When participants return regularly, conversations tend to go deeper and connections grow stronger. Through shared problem-solving and peer connection, the collaborative recognizes that many leadership challenges are shared and easier to navigate together.
